The Marver Group is a full service executive search firm specializing in contingency and retained searches within the commercial insurance arena in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. We have expertise in searches within commercial underwriting and management, claims, operations, loss control, human resources, brokerage, agency and administration.

As long as I can remember, I wanted to own my own business. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in Communication Arts and tried my hand at retail management with Marshall Fields and Benetton for three years. In 1989 I joined a search firm that specialized in insurance search and recruiting. I was fortunate to have been trained by two of the best recruiters in Chicago and quickly discovered that I had a real talent for this business. Two years later, in 1991, I joined Executive Directions, (formerly Sales and Management Search), and started their Insurance Search Group from scratch. This was very exciting for me because it was a chance to incorporate my style of search with an established and well respected organization. We flourished!

I believe that our success was due to a combination of factors beginning with a philosophy of providing the best possible service to our clients. My desire was to partner with my clients and function as an extension of them. By meeting the key decision makers in the staffing process and getting a feel for the corporate culture by making on site visits, I was able to more effectively present search opportunities to my candidates because I painted a complete picture of the opportunity, not just the technical aspects of the position. I also insisted on meeting my candidates face to face to get a better feel for them and to get to know them on a more personal level. Thus I was able to step into the role of confidant and career consultant. Then the matchmaking began!

This strategy of really listening to what the candidates want to do and why and then presenting the opportunities that fit the parameters they defined proved to be a winning combination. And so in March of 2003, I decided it was time to start my own search firm and developed The Marver Group. I have been fortunate to have built strong and lasting relationships over the past fourteen years and it is my intention to continue to cultivate them and to establish new ones built on the same foundation of trust and integrity.
